“The nats of Burma make up a structured system of animistic spirits,
predating the advent of Theravāda Buddhism but coexisting with it and
with other systems of divination and prediction such as astronomy and alchemy.”
The Burmese ideas of Sentient Beings, borrowed from India, represent a philosophy dealing with the evolution of the soul.
The habitations of the sentient beings

I guess every culture can trace its roots back to shamanism and animism.
Yes, and so many cultures have otherwordly spiritual hierarchies
I’ve lived in northern Thailand for nine years, have encountered a handful of maw pii (spirit / ghost doctors) and shamanic healers, and have travelled to Myanmar (Burma) on a number of occasions for extended periods, but I’m yet to find anyone who can shed light upon the Burmese alchemical tradition/s … my search continues. I will try to find a nice copy of ‘The Thirty-seven Nats’ by Temple at some point, too.
It seems to me that you will find this Burmese tradition eventually, and I do hope you’ll be able to share it with us. I’m a firm believer that these things come into our life when the time is right for us to learn them properly
